THE LOST 6 SECONDS

Visualizing the "Lost Six Seconds": Subverting Emotional Conformity in Modern Society.

​

It is said that when anger is born, human emotion manifests most intensely within the first six seconds. In contemporary society, however, that impulse is immediately suppressed, and we are conditioned to flatten and regulate our emotions.

What I paint are portraits of these "Lost 6 Seconds"—the exact moments people are forced to swallow in their daily lives.

Within the contours of the face, a texture of fierce, displaced emotion is sealed away. Yet, the layers of paint possess no physical thickness; the surface remains absolutely flat.

This is the space I navigate in my work: the modern social structure that ruthlessly crushes even the most intense human heat into flatness, balanced against the resilient breath of human life that stubbornly survives beneath it.

感情を整えることが要求される社会の中で、

失われた最初の6秒間を可視化する。

 

怒りが生まれた瞬間、人の感情は最初の6秒間に最も強く現れると言われています。しかし現代社会では、その衝動は抑制され、感情を平坦に整えることが求められます。
わたしが描いているのは、人々が日常のなかで飲み込んできた「失われた6秒間」のポートレートです。
輪郭の内側には、行き場を失った激しい感情のテクスチャが封じ込められています。しかし絵の具の層に厚みはなく、画面は完全にフラットです。
激しい熱量さえも平らに押し潰してしまう現代社会の構造——そしてその奥で、確かに生き続ける人間の息遣い。わたしの作品は、その狭間を描いています。
